Weird Looking Train

Actually, it is another Train snapshot from my FZ-30, the camera's zoom is really powerful, it just too great for me to take train photos at home!

Too bad I don't have time to arrange my trip photo yet, hopefully I can spare sometime to do so this weekend..

Light at the end of tunnel...

OK, this morning alone, I've shorten my todo list! First, I booked the MOT tomorrow, called the electricity company (although they are not very helpful when I request which company I am going to migrate to!), called the Applecare for 1 and 1/2 hr phone call and arranged a pickup! The Indian guy said the turnaround time should be around 10 working days, finger crossed! The guy at AppleCare (Indian Call Centre?) is very helpful indeed, a thumb up for them!

Still some more things to do, but hey, one step at a time! Time for lunch...

This afternoon, still have to go to Halfords to get a spare backlight lightbulb for my car and replace it, don't want to fail the MOT as well as getting billed £50 for changing just a bulb!

The never-ending troubles..

After I made up my mind to go back to Hong Kong, I already expected the long list of things that I need to taking care of, now the list's getting longer and longer because a series of unfortunate events.

Tonight, I've been stopped by Police while on my way to pick up MatMat from work, they said the driver (right) side of back light is burnt out, so I have to replace it, in addition, they have to do a check about my car and me as a regular procedure, so in this week, I need to bring my insurance, MOT certification and driving license to nearest police station. Luckily, I have to renew my tax disc this week, I just need to make a stop at police station to show them those documents. Trouble number one!

Second, I received a letter from the electricity company about my decision to switch to another energy provider, WTF?? I never said anything about leaving them, so I've to figure it out what happened, that mean some phone calls again, to see if someone forge my signature to switching provider for their commissions. Trouble number two!

Third, I wrote about it a few days ago, my iBook's broken HDD! I'll have to call AppleCare as it is under warranty, but, as I am leaving UK soon, I afraid it won't come back in time before I leave current address! What can I do? I need a laptop to backup my data! But if I send it to Apple what can I use for backup? I won't trust a external hard disk, as I need to get online as soon as I am in HK! So, I need to make a decision if I should send it back or take my own risk to change the HDD! And also, my phone XDA IIs has gone haywire, I needed to hard reset it when I am on my way back from Paris in the Eurostar, that means I need to reinstall everything, again! Trouble number three.

Forth, this is not something about me, seem the atmosphere in the house is very sad currently. My brother's female friend (I've to say this as he never confirmed his relationship with that girl) has gone back to her home country. And MatMat is a bit emotional about her work and leaving UK soon. You can really smell the sadness here. Trouble number four.

That's not it! I've more little things to do before I can leave UK, e.g. cleaning, bills to cancel, selling stuffs at ebay or local shops... and MUCH more! Gosh, I am going to take a break after settled in HK and let someone (actually my parent) to taking care of bills, and ALL household matters as before :P !

Home Sweet Home - Part 2.

Back from Paris, I found my home is in chaos after I went for 2 trips, many unwashed clothes, packing and unpacking, some mails that need to taking care of.... You'll find me disappear for a few days, so busy!

And also, my iBook's HDD has been broken, all my review about FZ-30 is lost, but it is luck that only the review is lost, the photos are still intact in the camera's memory card.

Overall, it is really 2 nice trip to Oxford and Paris, will take more about it later after I catch some rest..

Home Sweet Home.. with a FZ-30 myview, soon

Just came back from Oxford, and I am going to upload some more photos by my FZ-30 soon.. stay tuned!

I found many visitors now read my blog by searching FZ-30, so I am thinking while I am on my way to Paris next Monday, I'll write a detail review about my camera, as I found most of reviews on the web are written from "professional" photographer point of view, but I'll write a review from consumer POV, ease of use and is it fun to use or not. Certainly, it is going to be a bit bias review (or I should call it ... myview) as I owned this camera, but hey, who really care? ;)

I am very happy with my FZ-30, if you want to know anything about it, welcome to leave me a comment, I'll be happy to answer any questions about it!

UPDATE: I uploaded some photos by FZ-30, you can check them out at My Flickr's FZ-30 Gallery

First Batch of FZ-30 Test Photos.

Today, I have some free time to test my new digicam, Panasonic Lumix FZ-30. I took this photo is for the sake of testing its capability, just like learning to use a PC, you have to learn how to use keyboard, mouse or which is reset button and how to open the CD-ROM these kind of basic thing, but I am really impress the capability of this camera, vest improvement to my last digicam, Minolta Dimage X! Let's hope I can take some good photos for MatMat in her graduation ceremony next week, as well as some good photos in Paris.

My new digital camera - Panasonic Lumix FZ-30..

I bought a new camera, fresh from Hong Kong! Thanks to a friend of mine, Edward, who bought, tested and shipped this camera to me! You may wonder why I don't buy it in UK, because it is expensive to get a camera here! Since most companies in UK offering FZ-30 alone for £469-£499, however, I got my camera for around £480 included shipping, 1 extra battery, 1 screen protector, 1 x 1GB High Speed SD Card and a UV Filter! What a fantastic price!

Most importantly, my friend, Edward, is an expert in photography, after he tested the camera and ensured it is free of problem and dead pixels, this alone is the deal breaker! This gives me much more confident than ordering from any UK online company. Here is it:

Podcast Consolidation - Cantonese Podcast is dying?!

After the first few months Podcast hype, I subscribed basically all Cantonese podcast. But after I upgraded to iTunes 5, I decided to do a "spring clean". I kept a few that I am interested to listen and also deleted quit many that are wasting my HDD space, certainly most of them I kept are in Cantonese and from Hong Kong, some of them are Mac or Gadget related. I observed the growing rate of Cantonese podcast is slowing down.

According the Holy Grail of Cantonese Podcast - 香港 podcast 目錄, seem the most hyped time is in July, many amateur podcasts are established in this period, and in August, RTHK and CRHK have launched their "so-called" podcast service, honestly, I am very disappointed about RTHK and CRHK in their selection of programs for podcast. They are not really included any mainstream programs except CRHK's "林海峰是旦o翕發花癲" which happen to entered the high thirty in the Top100 podcast in iTunes. But sadly, 林海峰是旦o翕發花癲 is finished its radio broadcast and CRHK has yet to offer anymore podcast.

What does this mean? I don't know, perhaps like most Hong Kong's trend, people only parade a trend for very short time, and the survivors are the one that have "content". But it is still to early to say that Cantonese Podcast has entered this cycle, I certainly hope more people'll setup podcast, let's hope Cantonese Podcast will not die slowly and lifelessly. Since CRHK's 林海峰是旦o翕發花癲 is a living prove that podcast can be popular in Hong Kong, it is just that, people want something that is mainstream and easy, that's all.

iPod Nano..

In term of Internet Time, I know it is a bit late to talk about iPod Nano, but still, I want to express my opinion about this new fantastic iPod!

First of all, I am impress about it thinness, I know I'll be more impress when I see it in person (next week!). But HOLY, it is as thin as a pencil! You can put it in the coins pocket in the jeans with colour screen, what else can you ask for?

However, I am quite (actually, VERY) disappointed about iPod Nano don't support Firewire for syncing songs? Why not? Apple is the frontier of Firewire, and I always use my iPod 1st Gen with Firewire for temp disk! Seem I'll wait a bit longer until Nano gets Firewire support, otherwise, I don't think this iPod is useful to me.

WTF? No Keynote at Apple Expo Paris?

Yes.. it is confirmed... sad, very sad. Luckily, I am going to Paris with MatMat this time, instead of Keynote and Apple Expo, I can enjoy visiting the city with MatMat... But, still, I am disappointed about this decision.
